The practices of prayer and fasting are the main and basic elements for every Christian in his spiritual struggle. Through this spiritual struggle, every Christian grows and advances toward the perfection of God and toward the Kingdom of God. St. John of the Ladder is the author of the book called *The Spiritual Ladder*, where he explains the Christian stages of advancement toward the high spiritual stages of perfection.<\/p>\n<p>We pray that God, through the intercessions of the Mother of God and St. John, will give us the strength and grace to walk upward in our spiritual climbing toward God and His Kingdom.
