KINGLAKE<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On 10 May 2026, on the fifth Sunday after Pascha \u2014 the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman \u2014 when the Holy Church commemorates the Holy Apostle Simeon, Venerable Stephen Bishop of Vladimir, and Venerable John the Confessor, at the Macedonian monastery \u201cSt. Clement of Ohrid\u201d in Kinglake, the abbot of the monastery, Father Gavril (Galev), served the Holy Divine Liturgy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During the Holy Liturgy, the faithful partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Christ is Risen!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>During his sermon, Abbot Gavril emphasised the following before the faithful people:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a world filled with worries, passions, and a constant thirst for something fleeting, man increasingly distances himself from the source of true life. Yet Christ calls us precisely to that source \u2014 to the living water of the Holy Spirit, which not only quenches thirst, but creates within a person an inexhaustible spring of love, peace, and joy.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among other things, Father Gavril reminded us that repentance is not merely the acknowledgment of sins, but a sincere opening of the heart before God. Often we do not even understand what sin truly is, nor how fallen we are, yet it is enough with humility to desire to change and to draw near to Christ as the only Truth and measure of life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Through Holy Baptism, every person receives the gift of the Holy Spirit. But through sin, insincerity, and the passions, we bury that spring of living water within us. Instead of freedom \u2014 we feel heaviness. Instead of peace \u2014 unrest. Instead of joy \u2014 emptiness. The reason is that the soul was created for God, and not for the passing pleasures of this world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.\u2019 These words of Christ are the essence of spiritual life. The grace of the Holy Spirit is that living water which continually springs forth in the heart of the person who lives with God.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The saints were not different people from us. They were the same \u2014 with the same weaknesses and struggles \u2014 but with hearts more open, they allowed Christ to live within them. The difference is not in whom God gave more to, but in who strove more to preserve and multiply grace.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, we are called to renounce sin, hypocrisy, and spiritual slumber. To confess sincerely, to struggle with ourselves, and to allow God once again to awaken the spring of living water in our hearts.
