It&#8217;s:<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong><em>&#8220;Lord Jesus Christ Son of God, have mercy on me a sinner!&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0 or just:<strong><em>&#8220;Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me !&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Jesus Prayer according to numerous Church Fathers is &#8220;essential&#8221; to our spiritual growth. The Jesus Prayer proclaims our faith and humbles us by asking mercy for our sinfulness. The Jesus Prayer is thought to be as old as the Church itself.<\/p>\n<p>The Jesus Prayer, says Metropolitan Anthony Bloom,<em> \u201cmore than any other,\u201d<\/em> helps us to be able to <em>\u201cstand in God\u2019s presence.\u201d<\/em> This means that the Jesus Prayer helps us to focus our mind exclusively on God with <em>\u201cno other thought\u201d<\/em> occupying our mind but the thought of God.
