center;\">In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!<\/p>\n<p>Dear brothers, clergy and respected believers,<\/p>\n<p>The whole period of the Great Lent is the time for our repentance and correction. The act of sin first appeared in the angelic world, and then, in the human race. Sin, in its essence and in its nature, is <u>opposition to God<\/u>. In the angelic world, that opposition is expressed as a fight against God. When the angel who fell from grace and became a devil, tried to take the place of God. He tried to destroy God and destroy God&#8217;s domicile (providence) for the creation. That&#8217;s why the devil is named as an opponent (enemy). Both sin and evil have reflected in the human race. It did not show as a direct fight against God, but rather, as a denial of what God determines for man in his life.<\/p>\n<p>This denunciation is reflected in the non-acceptance of God and the disregard of God&#8217;s law and God&#8217;s commandments. Confrontation with God is an abandonment of God\u2019s Laws and Commandments and it has its own consequences. People do not want to live according to God&#8217;s law, but in their life they begin to govern themselves according to their own understanding, becoming a law unto themselves. Holy Fathers rightly say that sin, in its essence, occurs through pride. It is pride that appears as a driving force, which besets man against God. Therefore, pride, according to the teachings of the holy fathers, is not only one of the pillars of many vices and sins, which affect the human mind and paralyse the will, but it is the manifestation of the very essence and nature of the sin.<\/p>\n<p>Besides pride, which is the beginning of the sin, in its nature too\u00a0 is the lie. The devil, whatever\u00a0 he accomplished, he accomplished by lie. God predestined, everything that was created, to be in unity with God, as St. Ap. Paul said: &#8220;In order that God may be all in all.&#8221; (1 Cor. 15, 28).<\/p>\n<p>But if we were to find another way, a path that does not correspond to God&#8217;s righteousness, it means that, that path was false and clearly shows that the rejection of God and the opposition to God is a lie. It is no coincidence that the Lord for the devil says; \u201che is a liar and the father of lies.\u201d (John 8: 44) Thus, pride and lies do not appear as separate vices. People that base their life on pride and lying\u00a0 find that this is the most dangerous and most soul-destroying for them.<\/p>\n<p>The days of the Great lent are given to us so that we can prayerfully think about sin. To think about the evil and the consequences to our lives. To think about holiness and about virtues. To analyse what is manifest in our soul. To comprehend where we are in that struggle, between good and evil, between God and the devil. During these Great Lenten church (worship) services, let us think about ourselves and the righteousness of our lives. With prayer, let us ask God for help in the fight against sin that destroys our life here on earth and closes the doors of eternal life. Let us pray and never forget God.
